What is STIR/SHAKEN?

STIR/SHAKEN (Secure Telephone Identity Revisited/Signature-based Handling of Asserted Information Using toKENs) is a caller ID authentication framework designed to combat illegal robocalls and caller ID spoofing.

The framework that processes and validates the digital signatures to authenticate caller identity.

Our STIR/SHAKEN Implementation

STARPHONE LLC has implemented a comprehensive STIR/SHAKEN solution that includes:

Attestation Levels

  • Full Attestation (A): The service provider can attest to the authenticity of the calling party's identity
  • Partial Attestation (B): The service provider can attest to the origin of the call but not the calling party's identity
  • Gateway Attestation (C): The service provider can attest to the call's entry into their network

Authentication Process

  1. Call Initiation: When a call is placed through our network, we generate a digital signature
  2. Identity Verification: We verify the caller's identity using our authentication systems
  3. Attestation Assignment: We assign the appropriate attestation level (A, B, or C)
  4. Signature Creation: We create a digital signature containing the attestation information
  5. Call Routing: The call is routed with the STIR/SHAKEN signature to the destination
